- Nuevo filebrowser (sin tags mp3). Ver imagen.
- Nuevo tamaño y posición de subtítulos.
- Cinco fuentes para subtítulos (Font1....Font5). Ver imagen.
- Subtítulos blancos o amarillos (con menú - ver imagen), borde negro y fondo transparente.
- Bug de "1 seg. en subtítulo srt." corregido.
- Mejor quiebre de líneas + reformateo.
- Autocarga de subtítulos.
- GoTo (time search). Presiona la tecla "Back" dos veces en ingresa h:mm:ss para saltar a ese tiempo.
- Nivel de volumen conservado al apagar.

Tested somehow(!)

* New option for subtitles colors (text, outline and background). 15 options for each setting
* New option for transparent background, work if background is set to a color. Option are "Non-Transparent", 50% transparent and 75% transparent.
* New option for slideshow. You can now turn on/off, set transition speed and duration (delay).

IMPORTANT
After update, change font and color to activate new option for subtitles.
For slideshow, change several times settings to activate new options.

Note: Menu "Subtitles loading" is for next (possible) version.

I find a solution to fix problems with subtitles. It's a 3 steps solution...
In new version I change font for OSD and filebrowser, add extension for files, up to 46 char. in filebrowser.
Also better wordwrap and reformat.
Add Romanian language for DVD.

ExtraBlock and MTK tools

New firmware from Philips, like 5990 or 3980 have at end an "ExtraBlock" of bytes. This block of bytes "fill" firmware up to 2 MB. This block is usual fill with "FF" except last 8 bytes.
I write this article because usual tools like MTKRemaker or MTKWindows have some problems with this block.
A usual firmware end with a sequence like:
20 20 20 20 ab cd ef gh, where last 4 bytes is a calculated check sum.
A firmware with "extrablock" end with:
ab cd ef gh a1b1 c1d1 e1f1 g1h1, where last 4 bytes is a check sum over all firmware. In some firmware previous 4 bytes are used to select a "root menu".
So, in a firmware with "extra block", we have 2 check sum, normal and "over all".

Now, return to our MTK tools. When save firmware with MTKRemaker, the only check sum calculated is first. More than that, if extra block end with "FF", MTKRemaker "cut" extra block!!
If we save firmware with MTKWindows, the only check sum calculated is second (at end of firmware).
If you want to make change in MTKRemaker (fonts or skins)
You need an hex editor like UltraEdit or XVI32. Open firmware in editor and change last byte to 00 (or to a value <> FF). Save firmware. Now, we are sure that MTKRemaker will not cut extrablock.
Next, open firmware in MTKRemaker, make change and save. When save MTKRemaker "make" first check-sum.
For second check-sum use MTKWindows. Just open and save.
If you want to make change in MTKWindows
Open firmware in MTKWindows, make changes and save.
Next, open and save in MTKRemaker (first check-sum).
Last step, open and save in MTKWindows (last check-sum).

About check-sum in MTK firmware. This is a series of XOR. First 4 byts with next 4, result XOR with next 4 bytes and so....

Fix DivX file USB playback crash issues seen during end of playback

There are two version of this player 3254K with Sony DVD and 3254KI with Samsung DVD unit.

Common for both version:
* New skins
* New filebrowser with new icons, font with outline
* Max. 64 characters for file name from CD/DVD, max. 25 from USB
* 2 mp3 tag in a new position.
* 4 fonts for subtitles
* GoTo. Press "Title" twice and enter "h:mm:ss" to jump to time for "avi" files.

Only for 3254K
- option to change color and position for subtitle.
- All new menu for mpeg4 are in "General Page".
- "Load original subtitle, if not found, load all (max.10)".

This is my first mod....

What's in this version:
- new filebrowser with scrollbars, outline font (23 char from USB, and from CD/DVD limit to "yellow band" - intelligent file cutter, max. 64 char.)
- New icons for files.
- 3 mp3 TAG and jpeg preview uder files in filebrowser.
- 12 fonts for subtitles.
- Menu for font color (text and background).
- Menu for "Load Original Subtitles, if not find load all" with 3 option "Load Original then all", "Load All" and "Load match name".
- Menu for set vertical position for subtitles.
- All menu for avi subtitles are in "General Page". You can change fonts, color and position (vertical) when movie play
- Autoload subtitles
- For avi files "GoTo: h:mm:ss". When play avi files press "Title" 2 times and enter H:MM:SS to jump to moment you want.
- WordWrap and Reformat (if subtitles line is long, automatic make wrap)
- OSD font with outline, better contrast for all OSD message.
- Only OSD in English (and Romanian for 1250)
- DVD Quick play (with menu - on or off). If on, when play DVD's, skip menu and play directly movie. (in "Preference Page")
- Menu for "Jpeg preview" (on or off) in "Preference Page".
- Volume +- on "Repeat keys". Volume level is stored.

Prepare file for upgrade: burning Upgrade on CD-R / CD-RW
1. Extract the files by unzipping the rar file. Do not rename the extracted files.
2. Write the extracted files – not the rar file – onto a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc,
using the following settings:

- File System: ISO 9660 + Joliet
- File name length : max11 chars = 8+3 (Level 1)
- Mode : 2/XA
- Character set : ISO 9660 (ISO normal CD-ROM)
- No Multi Session
- Write Speed : Low
- Recording Method: Track At Once
Note: The extracted files should not be placed in a folder on the disc but just in the top level directory (root).
3. Finalize the disc. (The application may do this automatically.)

Apply Upgrade to your DVD Player

1. Power on the set and put in the disc.
2. A message will be displayed on the OSD after the upgrade file is recognized.
3. Follow the instruction displayed on the TV Screen – Press “OK” to upgrade (if applicable)
4. After reading the file, the disc will be ejected.
5. Remove the disc after ejected, but DO NOT close the tray
6. Wait approximately 3-5 minutes for the software to be upgraded
7. The set will restart itself once the upgrade is completed.
8. Upon wake up, please perform a “Default reset” in the Preference page under setup menu

Caution: Do not unplug or power off the set while upgrading in progress.

They add to this custom mod:

* New position for subtitle.

What I add
* New skins

* New font with outline for OSD, better contrast, also new color scheme in SETUP and DVD part.

* Rename "DVD Quick play" to "DVD-Video" to add more language.(Skip DVD menu, play main movie)
* All language in OSD Language
* Change color scheme for subtitles, now fonts are "normal", like in my other firmware.

Upgrading the firmware of your DVD Player (USB)
Important: Remove any discs from the tray before USB device is inserted.
1. Extract the firmware upgrade files from the RAR archive
2. Unzip the files and place the files on a USB flash storage device (at least 64Mb in size).
3. Turn the DVD Player on and when it is running, insert the USB flash storage device.
4. Press 'USB' on the remote control
5. A dialogue will now appear - follow the instructions to update the software of your DVD Player.
6. When player open tray, wait 2 or 3 second and remove stick from USB but DO NOT CLOSE TRAY.
Note: Please make sure you delete the upgrade file from the USB device before using it on the player again. This will prevent the player from performing the upgrade again.

Wait until player close tray and display new logo.
Enter "Setup" and from "Preference Page" perform a “Default reset”.
From "General Page" change font, color and position for subtitle.

I will try to explain what's new in my firmware.

My mod firmware have to base second release from Philips (with USB fix), from
September 2008.

V51: Fix DivX file USB playback crash issues seen during end of playback

There are two version of this player 3260 with Sony DVD and
3260I with Samsung DVD unit.

So, what's new:
- New skins for logo and filebrowser
- Max. 64 characters for file name from CD/DVD, max. 25 from USB
- 2 mp3 tag in a new position.
- 4 fonts for subtitles
- option to change color and position for subtitle.
- All new menu for mpeg4 are in "General Page".
- GoTo. Press "Title" twice and enter "h:mm:ss" to jump to time for "avi" files.
- fix "1 sec. srt bug".
- "Load original subtitle, if not found, load all (max.10)".

For DVP3260 I make two version, with and without "Load ORG then all". Use version without "Load ORG" only if you use Vosub subtitles (sub/idx), in this case if you have more than one movie and more than one subtitles (sub/idx), in version with "Load ORG", only first subtitle is loading.

For DVP3260I only version with "Load ORG".

I make for both players version for all usual CP (code page), 1250, 1251, 1252, 1253 and 1254.

For 3260, on some custom DVD's, from time to time subtitles are "dirty".
